THE OBSERVATION TOWER

The observation tower of the Broadwater Hotel, 2006. The tower was purchased at the 1974 Broadwater auction by father and son Joseph B. and Joseph E. Reber, who donated it to Lewis and Clark County. It was moved to the east side of Helena, where it fell into disrepair. It was refurbished in 2000, and placed in a small park just off Colonial Drive (red circle on map below).

The carriage house is located on the south bank of Ten Mile Creek, at the Williams St. crossing.
Built in 1889, the wooden carriage house is five years older than the iron Williams St. bridge in the background; the bridge is being replaced in 2007.

THE EAST FOUNTAIN

Excavated portion of the east fountain. This fountain was located in front of the Natatorium. Tim Kuney writes: "This fountain was underground until my brother and I got curious and started digging around a mysterious metal nozzle protruding though the ground. So far we have excavated approximately half. The rest is on our never-ending and continually growing to-do list."
